The average property investor is....?

Hello,

I have been having a search online but cant find any detail on what demographic makes up the average Kiwi property investor?

Does anyone have any stats on this?

Hi Olly,

Stats NZ & MBIE have the following information available:

“Based on current (or recent) bond lodgement data and/or other data held by MBIE you can
request the following statistics:

  1. The proportion of residential rental properties lodged by landlords with only one rental
    property and the total number of landlords in this category.
  2. The proportion of residential rental properties lodged by landlords with between 2 and 5
    rental properties and the total number of landlords in this category.
  3. The proportion of residential rental properties lodged by landlords with between 5 and
    20 rental properties and the total number of landlords in this category.
  4. The proportion of residential rental properties lodged by landlords with between 21 and
    50 rental properties and the total number of landlords in this category.
  5. The proportion of residential rental properties lodged by landlords with between 50 and
    200 rental properties and the total number of landlords in this category.
  6. The proportion of residential rental properties lodged by landlords with more than 200
    rental properties and the total number of landlords in this category.”

You can request any or all of this data from MBIE under the offical informations act 2015. Not too sure if this is what you are looking for? It will not go into more specifics around demographics etc.
